the potted plant - a housewife's guide

Weed had been medically legal for some years, however there were huge growing pains. When Potted Plant: A Housewife’s Guide was written, one could still get in trouble, as in federally, as it’s, even to this day, a class one narcotic. Weeds was a year from airing. The playwright, Kim Shepard, decided she wanted to tell her story, “Hollywood has yet to not portray people who use marijuana, as stereotypical, spacy, without a clue, stoners. The stories end up with outrageous and ridiculous scenarios. I was sick of it, so I basically wrote my life.” Potted Plant was honestly raw, with a David Mamet amount of fucks. A highly provocative portrait of everyday life of a housewife with two kids, who’s husband grows weed on the side. Her days are filled with bake sale cakes, quilts for the raffel, and a shit ton of driving, with no cheetahs, or Mexican Cartel boyfriends in sight.
